Isabelle turned and stared in the direction of the door. The voices sounded very near, and Sophia’s giggles were even laced with shyness. Everyone in the room could hear the sounds from the corridor outside, so almost everyone was looking at the door. When Sophia and John appeared at the room door, Sophia was holding onto John’s arm, her entire person leaning against him as though she was boneless. John, on the other hand, was on the other side of the door, so his expression wasn’t quite discernible. Tittering, Sophia continued, “I couldn’t possibly finish everything. What a waste!”
