It hit me like a ton of bricks. Mom nodded and got up and walked to her bathroom. I followed her. She was standing in front of her mirror and as I watched she removed her makeup. I watched as she removed what looked like layers of cosmetics. She washed up and as if by magic the lines on her face vanished. Mom wasn't using makeup to look good she was using it to hide her age. I remembered a picture in her wedding album with dad and I knew that the clock had been run back. She finished splashing water on her face and dried off.
