Two weeks before Labor Day we left the lake for good and went to visit the school and apartment with Mom and Dad. The place couldn't have been more perfect. We were on the top floor of a garden style apartment complex with an indoor pool and small workout room with fitness equipment and a free laundromat. The place was ten years old and had recently been repainted. We got one of the last units to be redone. It overlooked the pool and gym building. It had two bedrooms, a larger great room with a dining area open to the kitchen and a bathroom and it was nicely furnished. The bedrooms both had double beds. Dania and I secretly smiled at each other. Dad and Mom loved it -- so it was a go. Mom and Dania went shopping the next day for some linens and things for the kitchen. Dad and I went to the supermarket for staples and basics. We unpacked it all and headed out for dinner. Dania and I were on cloud nine. It was going to be a dream fulfilled. The next day we headed home to pack up our stuff and get ready for the move and our college adventure.
The day before we left for school, Dad and Mom surprised us. They were giving us the Wagoneer to take to school. We would need the transportation for shopping, etc. and it was an extra around the house anyway. How cool are they? We packed it, to the brim, and set out the next morning. It's only a two-hour drive from home to Boston -- far enough and close enough.
