I could see three smiles and one very unhappy mother but I could see it was more about worry than anything else. Deciding on a change of subject I fired up the portable generator, with help from Umbra, and got everything that needed plugging in attached to the power strip. Now that the girls had something to keep them busy I gave mom a look and headed towards the backyard. She followed and the girls wisely said nothing. We stood on the back porch and looked out over the expansive lawn with the two stone tigers crouching ready to spring but an otherwise plain undecorated field.
"I know you're worried," I said.
