Chapter 7 You Are Not My Type!
In the garden, Vincent strode to the fountain while Marielle was following him. Her hands were at her back. She was walking freely and didn’t mind if the man in front of him was annoyed at her presence.
“It’s a good thing you brought your girlfriend here. At least I don’t need to look for her anymore”, Marielle broke the silence.
Vincent suddenly stopped walking and turned around. Marielle didn’t realize so she accidentally poked his chest. She smelled his fresh cologne sprayed on his body. It gave her a tingling sensation in an instant.
“So manly. Seductive smell”, she said inwardly.
“Are you planning something against her?” Vincent exclaimed in anger.
Marielle ignored his question. She stared deeply at his eyes instead.
“Tantalizing”, she whispered.
Vincent heard her comment. He looked at Marielle and held her chin tight. It made Marielle went back to her senses. Her deep blue eyes blinked. Vincent was mesmerized by what she just did. He was about to comment on it but he remembered her statement towards Lilia.
“I’m asking you! Are you planning something against Lilia?” He was already upset.
“What? No, I’m not. Why should I?” Marielle responded.
She couldn’t help but trembled a little. It’s not because of his anger but because this was the first time she felt something deep within her. Was she in love? No! Of course not! She also brushed off that idea that suddenly emerged in her thoughts.
“Then why did you say that?” Vincent continued pressuring her.
“Well because she is your girlfriend and I’m going to be your wife. I think I must know the people around you”, Marielle said smilingly.
Vincent was in the verge of shaking her shoulders to awaken her irritating brain. This woman didn’t seem like she was taking his words seriously. She was blunt to say her thought.
“Listen carefully! I don’t like this bet at all. I don’t like flash wedding. I like a relationship that is cultivated by time. Above all, YOU ARE NOT MY TYPE!”
“Okay!” Marielle just uttered after pausing for a while and pondered on what he said.
“Wow! My ideal man. So there are still few men in the world who wants a long term relationship before getting married”, she told in her mind.
While Marielle was busy staring at him and mysteriously scanning his facial features, Vincent was already furious. He told her he was not his type and the only answer he had received was a cold 'OKAY!'
"Is this woman even normal?" he asked inwardly.
“So you’re saying that it’s okay with you to live a miserable life with me?” He raised his brows while his strong arms were crossed over his chest.
“Yes!” she answered.
“Don’t you know any other words except for 'okay' and 'yes'?" He exclaimed in annoyance. His forehead was starting to form some thin lines.
“D*mn! This woman is annoying”, he thought.
“Well, what do you want me to say?” Marielle asked.
“You know what? I have never met a woman as stupid as you! Too bad you’re pretty but stupid!” Vincent stated then turned around. He was about to leave her in the fountain when Marielle spoke again.
“So you think I’m pretty? Thanks! I will take that as a compliment”.
Vincent took a U-turn and frowned at her.
“I didn’t say you’re prett----“, before even Vincent could continue his words, he realized he really commented on her good looks.
He could already notice what Marielle was doing to him. He thought she was dangerous for she could turn the table around like a businessman. Behind that childish dress she was wearing and that friendly and demure attitude, she was a wild cat. An interesting wild cat.
“Let’s see how far you can go Miss Roberts”, Vincent thought while sneering.
“So you are the director of Grey Empire. Actually I always thought that leaders of companies were bald headed and has big bellies. Except for my father and my cousin Thomas, you are the first man I see charming”, Marielle imparted which made Vincent blushed.
“I had no idea that your eyes were judgmental Miss Roberts? At first, you are just looking at the physical attributes of a person and not his character”, Vincent snorted.
“Of course! Coz that’s the first thing we notice to a person. Don’t tell me you fell in love with your girlfriend the first time you met her because you already knew she was sweet”, she explained.
Vincent couldn’t say anything. She was right! First impression didn't always last. Although the physical character of a person was visible to everyone's naked eyes, the first impression someone could receive would always changed depending on his traits.
“So, what about you? Have you already fallen for me because I’m charming? You can’t resist me anymore”, Vincent said while walking slowly towards her.
Marielle moved backward a little. Vincent didn’t stop. He was glaring at Marielle.
“Director Grey if you’re planning to kiss me let me know then I will close my eyes”, Marielle didn’t know where she found the courage speak her mind.
All she just wanted Vincent to do was to stop walking towards her. She was trembling but she didn’t show it to him. She blinked her eyes and bit her lower lip to hide her emotion. Her simple gesture was misunderstood by Vincent. He thought she was seducing him.
“You think I can’t do that. You’re going to be mine sooner or later. Why not practice early so we know if we are compatible”, Vincent sneered as he pinched her chin. He was about to give Marielle a lesson by kissing her when the siren spoke again.
“I’m not against it but I just want to know how long can you handle the pressure and the death stare of your mom and your girlfriend if you do that?”, Marielle said as she looked at the grand balcony on the second floor.
Vincent followed her eyes. He moved back fast and left Marielle in the garden. At the balcony the women had been watching them from afar. Their cold and terrifying stare could tear her up to pieces. Lilia was clenching her fists while Mila was looking down at her with contempt.
“Gee! This marriage is going to be a big trouble. Grandpa, what have you done? Were you drunk when you had that bet? How I wish cousin Thomas was a woman. With his temper, he is a perfect match for this arrogant director”, Marielle told herself while shaking her head.
