Chapter 15 Cargo Bike
"Grandpa, don't worry. He'll come back," Leticia said, suddenly realizing she hadn't asked Kenneth for his phone number earlier.
She didn't know what had happened, but seeing her grandfather so anxious, she knew it must be important.
"Yes, I lost my composure just now," Nelson said, taking a deep breath to calm down.
"Dr. Gavin, you mentioned the Arcane Formula: Needle Mastery you mentioned. Is it a legendary medical book?"
"Exactly! These two prescriptions must have originated from that book," Nelson confirmed.
"Wait, do you mean the snippets of prescriptions in your notes are from that legendary book?" Keke exclaimed.
Most top-tier holistic medicine doctors have heard of this book. It's an artifact of myth, something almost every significant figure in the field has studied. Many of the most respected names in holistic medicine have relied on fragments of this book, delving into its depths to develop their expertise.
Nelson kept studying the prescriptions Kenneth had written, increasingly convinced that even if Kenneth hadn't obtained the entire book, he understood more than any holistic medicine doctor.
No wonder he could spot the issues in the prescription at a glance.
"Grandpa, is this Arcane Formula: Needle Mastery really that incredible?" Leticia asked, bewildered.
"Incredible is an understatement. As you know, your aunt's condition is severe. I can only suppress it with medicine, but if Kenneth can perform the Supreme Divine Needle treatment, your aunt's illness could be completely cured!" Nelson replied.
"That's unbelievable!" Leticia was stunned.
She was all too familiar with her aunt's condition, which was almost terminal. If it weren't for her grandfather's holistic treatments, she might not have survived.
Even the top medical professionals abroad had no solution. How could it be cured?
"Tsk, tsk! Letty, you'd better believe it. Call your aunt immediately and have her come to Hollow Springs as soon as possible," Nelson insisted.
"Grandpa, are you serious? Aunt works tirelessly every day like a normal person; how could she be willing to take leave to come here?" Leticia replied helplessly.
"She's stubborn as a mule. Just like your father!" Nelson grumbled, dialing a number.
Since she refuses to take leave, I'll transfer her to Hollow Springs.
Kenneth had left the apothecary on the other side of town and headed to the market to buy the supplies Rosaria had listed. Then, he made his way to a vehicle dealership.
After accounting for his recent expenses and the thirty thousand he lent to Kim, he was left with thirteen thousand from the fifty thousand he got from selling the tuna fish.
"Thirteen thousand should be enough," Kenneth thought. "As long as I keep foraging for herbs and develop Brighter Valley's aquatic resources, the money will only increase."
With that in mind, Kenneth walked into a cargo bike dealership.
"Sir, here to buy a vehicle?" The dealer, noticing Kenneth's plain attire, instantly recognized him as a farmer from a nearby village. Fortunately, the dealer wasn't the type to judge based on appearances; he preferred doing business with farmers. Cargo bikes were in high demand, bought mainly by rural families for work. These small, powerful vehicles were perfect for commuting, hauling goods, and carrying materials.
"Yes, how much for this one?" Kenneth asked.
The dealer, a chubby man with a cheerful demeanor, explained, "Sir, this model you're interested in is a domestic brand with a 250cc domestic engine. It has a spacious cargo area, and the front part can shield the rider from wind and rain. We're running a promotion right now, so if you're serious about buying, I can let you have it for twelve thousand."
"Twelve thousand is too much," Kenneth countered. "This engine cover was installed in-store, and the carriage has been modified. I'd pay thirteen thousand for a major brand, but for this one, I can only offer nine thousand."
"Nine thousand? Young man, you're killing me! No way, you have to add a bit more!" The dealer was surprised that Kenneth could tell the vehicle had been modified. Indeed, he could sell it for eight thousand five hundred at market price and still make a profit. But the custom modifications had cost him around six hundred. Selling it for nine thousand meant he'd be giving those away for free.
"Sir, I earned this money through hard labor, toiling in the mountains many miles away. Nine thousand is more than some families in my village make in two or three years..." Kenneth shifted tactics, playing on the dealer's sympathy.
"Alright, young man, stop right there. Add another five hundred, and I'll have the paperwork ready for you. You can drive it away in twenty minutes."
"Deal!" Kenneth agreed promptly.
The dealer blinked in surprise. "What?"
When Kenneth pulled out a stack of cash and counted the extra five hundred, the dealer realized he'd been too hasty.
"Sir, you better not go back on your word. Us farmers have it tough..."
"Do I look like that kind of person? We agreed on nine thousand five hundred, and that's the price." The dealer counted the money and asked Kenneth for his ID.
"Here," Kenneth handed it over.
"Wow, is this your sister?" The dealer's eyes widened upon seeing Casey's ID photo. If she could look so refreshingly beautiful in her ID photo, she must be even more stunning in person!
"No, that's my wife."
"Damn! Do beautiful women like to marry countryside folks these days?" The dealer couldn't help but grumble internally.
Ultimately, he honored the deal and had one of his workers take Casey's ID to the local vehicle registration office at the dealership's entrance.
Twenty minutes later, all the paperwork was done.
Kenneth had the store employees help load Michael's cargo bike onto the back of the new cargo bike. The cargo area was spacious, leaving plenty of room to spare.
Just as Kenneth was about to leave, a Mercedes S-Class pulled up in front of him, blocking him and the cargo bike.
"Hold on. That's one of the wealthiest businesspeople in our county. You should wait a moment before leaving," said Derek Brigg, the dealer. He pulled Kenneth back a few steps when he saw the Mercedes with the license plate number 88888.
Who would dare to anger the owner of this car?
But Kenneth wasn't worried. He knew the owner.
It was Daniella Galasso, the owner of Casa La Daniella.
"Well, well, Mr. Mohler, you're here too?" Daniella greeted Kenneth as she exited the car.
Derek was shocked. Wow! This young man knows Daniella! I hope I didn't say anything inappropriate just now.
"Ms. Galasso, what a coincidence! I didn't expect to see you here."
"Yes, the hotel needs a cargo bike to transport goods. The manager wasn't available, so I came myself," Daniella said, glancing at the cargo bike Kenneth had just bought. "But you, you bought a car. What about the thing you promised me?"
"Don't worry, Ms. Galasso. I came to town today to buy some tools. I'll definitely have something for you tomorrow," Kenneth replied with an awkward smile.
Although he wanted to make money, he needed to take it step by step.
"All right! I'll be waiting for you tomorrow. If I don't see you, I'll be very upset," Daniella said with a playful smile.
Her smile left everyone around them stunned. She looked so beautiful that no words could do her beauty justice.
If that smile had been directed at any of them, they'd willingly trade ten years of their life for it!
