Chapter 3 Uncovering Issues
As Lin Feng stood there in shock, the fairy within his mind gently parted her vermilion lips and spoke with an ethereal voice, free from worldly concerns.
"Do not fear, I mean you no harm."
Pausing for a moment, she continued, "I come from the realm of cultivation. I was engaged in a battle with a group of villains in the sky when my senior sister launched a surprise attack on me, causing me grave injuries. I was then thrown into the space-time continuum, landing here."
"In order to conceal my presence, I must recuperate within your mind for a while."
"Rest assured, I will not impose without reason. I will later impart to you some cultivation techniques suitable for humans on Earth. Are you willing?"
Lin Feng eagerly nodded, about to express his willingness.
At that moment, the woman in white interjected, "You need not speak aloud when communicating with me, simply think it in your mind."
Lin Feng mentally exclaimed, "I agree, I am willing. By the way, fairy, I have not asked for your name yet!"
The woman in white paid him no mind, "We have met by chance, names are unnecessary. You have referred to me as a fairy, so you may continue to do so."
With a graceful gesture, she conjured a sparkling golden tower in the palm of her hand.
Under Lin Feng's astonished gaze, the fairy's ethereal voice spoke once more.
"I shall rest within this Starry Tower for a period. During this time, I will be unaware of my surroundings. Please refrain from disturbing the other beings within the tower."
"Be aware that the creatures on each floor of the tower are malevolent spirits I have captured. If you wish to avoid harm, do not provoke them."
"However, the first floor is unoccupied and belongs to you."
With that, she ascended to the ninth floor of the tower. As she entered, she waved her slender hand backwards.
Countless golden characters flew into Lin Feng's mind in an instant.
He was inundated with a wealth of knowledge - acupuncture, talisman magic, herbalism, alchemy, the Book of Changes, martial arts cultivation, as well as music, chess, calligraphy, and painting.
The sheer volume of information overwhelmed Lin Feng, causing a severe headache. He groaned and nearly fainted.
Suddenly, a gentle golden light emanated from the ninth floor of the tower, enveloping Lin Feng in warmth and strength.
Before he could fully savor the sensation, the woman in white's voice echoed in his mind.
"Ah, you struggle to transition from a mortal to a spiritual being? Your talent appears to be lacking. It seems my efforts were in vain at this level of power."
With that, she fell silent, ignoring Lin Feng's inquiries about his limited talent. Disappointed, he ceased his attempts to communicate with her.
Ignoring the onlookers in the hall, who still pointed at him, Lin Feng braved the storm and headed towards the electric bike shed.
With his extraordinary abilities, he had no fear of financial struggles!
His first priority was to cure the poisoned fat man. While Yang Yunuo had provided fifty thousand, there was no guarantee it would suffice for the fat man's recovery. Without his improvement, Lin Feng's foster mother would remain in detention.
Thus, his immediate task was to heal the fat man and secure his foster mother's release.
Thinking about this, he hopped on the electric bike and made his way to a medical equipment store.
The heavy rain had stopped without notice, and the sun was shining in the sky once again.
It was summer, the sun was scorching, and he was dressed lightly. When Lin Feng reached the medical equipment store, his clothes were already half dry.
He purchased a box of acupuncture needles from the store and rushed to the hospital without delay.
"Lin Feng, why are you here again? Don't you know that your wife has already paid fifty thousand for you?" The fat man's mother, this time, did not attack Lin Feng, but asked out of curiosity.
With a smile, Lin Feng shrugged off his previous despondency and replied, "I am aware that my wife has already paid the money. I came this time mainly to inquire about when your son will undergo surgery."
"If he recovers sooner, my mother can be released sooner as well."
Perhaps Lin Feng's payment had already been received, and Auntie Pang seemed unhurried, with a faint smile on her face.
She said to Lin Feng, "Lin Feng, you are truly a devoted son. Even in times of great difficulty, you still show so much concern for your foster mother."
"Don't worry, as soon as my son gets better, I will speak highly of you to your foster mother."
Lying in bed, the fat man also said excitedly, "Lin Feng, rest assured. I have been a loyal customer at your mother's stall for a long time."
"As soon as I recover, I will personally go to the police station. I will deliver the letter of forgiveness I wrote to the police myself."
Lin Feng pretended to be delighted outwardly, but his heart skipped a beat.
In the past, he had no knowledge of medicine, so he couldn't discern any clues.
Now, he dared to claim that his medical skills were unparalleled, and no one could boast of being the best in the world.
With such exceptional medical skills, he naturally saw through the fat man's condition at a glance.
He discovered that the poison in the fat man's body had long dissipated, and the damaged organs had also healed long ago.
This puzzled him. If the fat man's illness had been cured long ago, why was he pretending to be sick? And why was the hospital cooperating with him so well?
Was it all a ruse to deceive medical expenses?
With doubts swirling in his mind, Lin Feng, in order to further confirm his suspicions, continued to express gratitude to the fat man and his mother. Approaching, he gently took hold of the fat man's hand that had not received any injections, displaying a very grateful expression.
After feeling the pulse on the fat man's wrist, Lin Feng was completely certain that the fat man's illness had long been cured!
Lin Feng was suddenly overcome with anger!
He had borrowed money everywhere and endured his mother-in-law's scorn and rebukes just to secure treatment for him. And now, his own grandson turned out to be deceiving him!
Just then, the door to the ward swung open, and a bespectacled man entered. It was Dr. Zhang, Wang Hui's attending physician.
Suppressing his rage, Lin Feng stood up and inquired, "Dr. Zhang, how is Wang Hui doing?"
Dr. Zhang pressed on Wang Hui's body and responded, "Poisoning has led to renal failure. Be prepared, even with the 500,000 yuan, the patient may not necessarily recover."
Before he could finish, Lin Feng slapped him hard across the face twice.
Dr. Zhang was taken aback, his mouth bleeding, and it took him a moment to regain his composure.
Yelling, "Lin Feng, why did you hit me? Trying to cause trouble at the hospital? Let me tell you, the government is cracking down hard on troublemakers like you!"
"If you don't provide me with a satisfactory explanation today, I will have you arrested in no time!"
Lin Feng sneered, "Arrested? Someone will be arrested, but it won't be me! It will be you!"
"You two are truly audacious, conspiring to deceive me. Tell me once more that this fat guy is poisoned! You two are simply putting on a show for me."
"You want to involve the police, right? Fine, I will assist you in calling them. Let the police designate a reputable hospital to come and verify if the fat guy's illness has indeed been cured."
Seeing Lin Feng reach for his phone, Dr. Zhang's expression changed, and he hastily said, "Please don't call the police, this is not my fault, I was coerced into it."
Lin Feng had a sense that things were more complicated than they seemed, and he couldn't help but say coldly, "Forced? Who is pressuring you? If you lie even a little, I will not hesitate to take action!"
The overweight man attempted to fight back, but Lin Feng pushed him to the ground and delivered a powerful kick to his face, causing him to lose several teeth.
"You must tell me the truth, or else I will have no choice but to resort to extreme measures!"
