During that whole week, Andrei had decided that it was a good idea to leave home or distract himself with good female company. He didn't plan to bother Elisa again for a few days; he wanted to leave her alone with her distress, and that amused him. But seeing her this time made him feel that it wasn't fun if she wished to kill herself, even though that's what he was aiming for. Perhaps his first approach with her hadn't been correct; torturing her like this wouldn't work if she was that weak.
