"And to the happy couple!" trilled the voice of the master of ceremony, as the waiter reached towards them, carrying a silver tray with two crystal glasses filled with champagne. There were bubbles dancing in the light as they were presented to Rafael and Bernice. Bernice hauled a smile out, though her mind wasn't back yet. The earlier words of Olivia kept gnawing at her mind. Subtle mockery, veiled insults during the speech seemed pointed, deliberate. She turned her head to look at Olivia now standing at the far end of the room, radiant, chatting effortlessly with her guests. Olivia smiled too perfectly, too calculatedly.
