Chapter 4 Stalking Me?

Rain’s POV. “So, since you all already know my name, I’d like you to familiarize myself with yours too.” Professor Logan says, his sharp eyes taking in everyone in the classroom. I feel my whole body shaking at the revelation that the man I had tasted last night was my professor. Other students are already on their feet, introducing themselves as he had demanded. But I was so lost in thought that I did not realize it was already my turn for the introduction until Kylie bumped her shoulder into me. I gasp, staring at my friend to scold her but Kylie whispers, “The professor…” “The red-haired! May I know your name?” The professor’s voice intercepts Kylie. I feel a ripple of shivers down my spine and I manage to get up on my feet, swallowing the lump in my throat. “Uh…professor.” I stutter, my body jittering Why the hell am I shaking? Peering at him, I notice the intense way he's looking at me like he’s studying me. My whole body prickles with a strange kind of awareness under the weight of his gaze. ‘Pull yourself together, Rain.’ I whisper to myself. Manageably, I gaze back at him and say in one rushed breath. “I'm Rain. Rain Hanks.” “Rain Hanks…” He says so slowly as if he’s tasting my name at the seam of his lips. Fuck, this is bad. So bad! I shudder inwardly. I wonder what will happen if anyone ever finds out I had had an affair with our new professor. I could be expelled! Or worse my father will lock me up in the dungeons. Oh, no. With one last glance at him, I sit back down. Professor Logan, acting like he hadn’t devoured me with his eyes, continued with the lecture. I sit on eggshells, only reading every detail of his body. The birthday mark behind his ear looks amazing. Though he's wearing a shirt, I can see the outline of his striated muscled torso. He looks incredibly hot and I wish to explore those parts of him hidden beneath the shirt. Professor Logan stalks down the aisle in the class as he goes on teaching about the history of this town. He effortlessly towers over everyone in the class, about 6’5 feet tall. Trust me, I’ve never seen anyone this tall, perfect, and intelligent. Well, from what he’s teaching, Professor Logan sure knows a lot about this town. “Are you from Oakdale, Professor Logan?” Nadia asks, interrupting the professor, and hearing her swoon in her voice sparks my body with irritation. What is wrong with her? I bark, grazing my fingers over the locker as I shoot daggers at her. He breathes out heavily and nods. “Yes, Nadia. But I’m afraid it’s been a while since I was in Oakdale.” “What made you return?” Nadia asks again, obviously flirting with him. The man swallows and the way his Adam’s apple bobbed now pricked my nerves deliciously. “I felt the need to.” He responds. “Are you married, professor?” Another girl asks. Before the man responds, he throws a heated look my way. Why was he looking at me? I ponder, breaking my stare with him. “No, Ella. I’m single.” My heart thumps when he says those last words. Why do I feel excited about him being single? The class continues this time with Logan's deep voice echoing as he teaches us. However, only I know that I’m barely listening to a word he says except taking in his profound features. Damn! I’m hooked on my professor. ___ Logan’s POV. I didn’t expect her to be here. The human girl I took last night when I lost control. No, my wolf lost control at the first sight of her while she was drinking at the bar. She looked hurt and my wolf felt all her pain. The urge to comfort her took over me and I inched towards her. Then she clashed her body with mine, spilling her drink on my shirt. The instant her scent hit my nostrils, my wolf growled “Mate!” That’s impossible, I told my wolf, Blade. There’s no how a werewolf alpha like me will have a human as my mate. Regardless of how much I tried to resist the whole idea. To resist the girl, I find myself wanting to be beside her. I noticed the way her moss green eyes were reading me as I battled with my wolf not to claim my mate right at the pub. I couldn’t do it. Not when I just returned to town tonight. I have a mission to accomplish, hence getting distracted by a human female isn’t an option. That’s what I keep telling Blade but he was insistent on being beside her. On claiming her. When she fell into my arms and I held her, I growled at her softness and my fangs nearly propped out to graze through her fleshly, soft skin. I can’t do it. I can’t mark a human. If I mess up, then the truth is I'll be out. I need to control myself, so I walked out on the girl, pretending to be pissed by her comment. I was already in the alley, aiming to disappear into the darkness of the night when I felt her rushing towards me. Her silky voice reverberated in the air, rushing into my ears. My teeth gnashed together in anger and an attempt at control when she gripped my wrist. She shouldn’t be here with me. I warmed her to back off but she did the one thing that let my control slip. She kissed me. At the touch of her lips, Blade pushed forward and began to sniff her arousal. Then I mindlessly took her lips back with mine, sucking the soft flesh as I poke my boner into her. When my control snapped into pieces entirely, I pressed her into the wall and took her. Thankfully, just before I could knot inside her Lester came out. My beta. “Alpha! She’s a human!” He roared enough for me to hear but it was Blade fucking his mate. I do my best to take control back from my wolf and block him off before staring down at the slender, beautiful girl who's now asleep in my arms. Her olive skin is so bright I could practically see my reflection on it. Though she’s sleeping, she has a beautiful smile on her face that weakens my knees. I sling the stray highlight of her hair behind her ear and stare at my beta. “Lester. I…just found out she’s my mate.” I murmur. “What? A human? That has never happened before.” Lester shakes his head and a lump blocks my throat. “Fuck, what do I do, Lester? I nearly claimed her and my scent is already embedded on her skin.” “Alpha, no one in Oakdale should ever find out we're back. You should forget her.” At that reminder, I nod and order Lester to make inquiries about her home. It didn’t take long for him to find out that she was one of the daughters of the town’s four rulers. The four ruling families I’ve returned to avenge against. Cradling her safely in my arms, I teleported to her quarters in the manor. Her room has such an intimate feel that I feel the urge to slip into the bed beside her. But no, I know better now. She’s an enemy. She can never be my mate. She whined a little in protest when I lay her on the bed and my wolf purred in my head not to leave. But I had to. Without meaning to, I pressed a kiss on her forehead and disappeared into the night with the hope of not seeing her again. Well, too bad. The girl in question turned out to be my student. I nearly staggered when her scent permeated my nose as I walked into the class. She remembered me too given the way she was looking at me. Hell, I barely made it through the class because I kept throwing looks her way, reminding myself what it felt like to kiss those luscious lips of hers. Immediately after the class, I exit the class and rush into my office. Sinking into my seat, I feel my wolf roaring, wagging his tail. She’s my student? Not only that but she’s Mayor Hanks's daughter. An enemy. How the heck am I gonna make it as a professor knowing she’s my student? Damn, the moon goddess must be playing jokes on me for giving her to me as my mate. A heavy knock sound at the door, disrupting my moment of inner chaos. “Come in.” I call out, looking at the door. The door creaks open and the rector's assistant, Kevin, shoves in. “Hi, Professor Logan. Your attention is needed at the rector’s office, sir.” “Alright, Kevin. I’ll be there in a minute.” I inform him and he leaves bearing a polite smile on his lips. Alone again, I sigh. Then I push to my feet and head to the rector's office in the other building. With a light knock, I slip into the office and shockingly, there she is, Rain. “Hello, Professor Logan.” The rector chimes with a smile. Shooting to her feet. “I…uh…got a message from Kevin.” I toss a look at Rain briefly then at the rector, Mrs. Inker. “Ah. That’s right, Logan. I figured you’d need a tour of the school.” I nod at her. I sure need a tour of the school so I can know my way around since it’s been years since I’ve been here and everything has changed from what I knew it to be. “Great! So, that’s why I called Rain. She’s Oakdale High's brightest student and one of Mayor Hanks's daughters. I want her to give you the tour. I hope that won't be a problem?” What? I grumble, rolling my mind’s eye at her words. I want to ensure I distance myself from Rain but the rector is pitting us together? How convenient! Despite myself, I nod. “Sure, I could make do with her.” I smile widely at Mrs. Inker. Turning to Rain whose wild red hair is shaggy, I say expressly. “Lead the way, Rain.” Her lowered head hitches up and her flashy moss-green eyes connect with mine before she nods. “Sure, professor.” She hums as she walks through the door. “Enjoy, Professor Logan!” Echoes Mrs. Inkers' voice as I snick the door closed behind me. As I’m about to turn, I feel Rain walking into my space, her body pressing against mine. “What are you…”I start but she cuts me off, boring her questioning eyes into mine. “You were stalking me?” Her voice echoes laced with anger.
