Chapter 5 I Threw It
But Claire couldn't leave. She wanted to see her child.
If the children were not in the Beresford community, they must be in the Grant's mansion.
Claire waited for an hour, but the Grant family still ignored her. She could only call Delilah. Some time ago was the day of mourning for Delilah's husband, James. Delilah had gone back to her hometown and had not yet returned.
Claire wouldn't have contacted Delilah if she had other choices.
Delilah was overjoyed to receive Claire's call.
"Claire, your due date is coming up. I have already booked a flight for tonight and am waiting to go back to welcome the birth of my two great-grandchildren."
Claire's vision was blurry.
She had already given birth, yet Kayden did not inform Delilah.
Claire cried and shouted, "Delilah... The babies have been born. Kayden won't let me see them..."
Claire returned to the Beresford community. Her phone beeped.
She took out her phone and saw a trending news on the screen.
Street Photography: [The Grant family heir's Kayden and his new love walk hand in hand in the lake, setting off fireworks all over the city. Kayden may have a marriage change.]
Claire clicked it.
A gentle and quiet girl pressed her face against Kayden's chest. Although only Kayden's face was captured, she could still recognize that the person in the photo was Bella. Above the photo were dazzling fireworks.
The two of them held each other's hands tightly. Bella was wearing a blue diamond ring.
Claire knew that the ring was called Deep Blue Star.
The so-called Deep Blue was the largest natural blue diamond in the world that had been buried underground for a thousand years.
Half a month ago, Kayden insisted on pestering her. She could only help him with her hands like before. He felt that it was not enough and pestered her to make love. After that, she went to brush her teeth. He hugged her from behind and asked her what gift she wanted after giving birth.
She said shyly, "As long as it's from you, I like it."
The next day, Kayden specially flew overseas to bid the Deep Blue Star.
The media covered the matter in abundance, but when Kayden returned, he did not mention it to her.
She thought that Kayden had bought the Deep Blue Star as a postpartum gift to give her a surprise.
It turned out that she was overthinking.
Claire raised her hand and looked at the extremely ordinary gold ring on her ring finger. Her eyes were sour.
When she and Kayden got married and exchanged rings, Kayden whispered into her ear, saying that it was a wedding ring prepared for Bella. If he gave it to Claire, it would be disrespectful to her. Later, he would make it up to her.
It wasn't until she was pregnant and Delilah urged him that he brought back the wedding ring he had promised.
Although it was very ordinary and the price was not high, Kayden said that it was a couple's design that he had carefully chosen, so she was happy for a long time.
Now that Claire looked at this ring again, she felt extremely ironic.
Claire took off the wedding ring and threw it into the trash can.
At night, the galaxy was resplendent.
Kayden returned in the twilight. He walked into the bedroom and glanced at Claire. He lit a cigarette lazily and took a deep puff. The smoke lingered around him. "You kept saying that you agreed to the divorce, but you turned around and complained to Delilah."
Claire's eyes were stubborn. "I didn't mention the divorce. I just told Delilah that I wanted to see my child."
Kayden slowly approached the sofa beside Claire and sat down. He crossed his legs and took a puff of the cigarette. After blowing out the smoke, he looked up and saw Claire's hand hanging down. His ring finger was empty.
Instantly, Kayden's eyes darkened. He grabbed Claire's hand and stared at her coldly. "Where's the ring?"
"I threw it away!"
"Who gave you permission to throw it?" he asked.
Kayden pressed the cigarette butt into the ashtray and stood up. He was so angry that he placed his hands on his hips. He was the one who wanted a divorce, and he was the one who wanted to dump Claire. He had yet to lose his wedding ring, but Claire had thrown it away first. His chest was filled with impatience.
Kayden's warm gaze was fixed on Claire. "Why did you throw the ring?"
Claire's cool eyes moved slightly as she said in a low voice, "Mr. Grant, you can afford the Dark Blue Star. Why would you care about an ordinary gold ring? It's not worth much..."
Kayden's restless mood felt slightly better. "Are you jealous?"
"Jealous? Mr. Grant, you're thinking too much."
Kayden wanted to capture the emotions in Claire's eyes, but there was no emotion in Claire's beautiful eyes.
Impatience swept over again... "Where's the ring?" he asked.
Claire said casually, "The trash can downstairs."
Kayden's fingertips curled up. "Delilah will be home tonight. I'll pick you up tomorrow morning and bring you back to the Grant's mansion. You know what to say."
Claire asked anxiously, "Can I see my children?"
Kayden frowned and said indifferently, "Claire, you have achieved your goal."
Claire's eyes widened. "Are you agreed to give me custody of my children?"
