Chapter 5 Meeting The Godfather

Finally we arrived at the house and Rodrigo led me inside the house immediately. As I stepped into the mansion, I couldn't help by gape at the beautiful interior. The polished marble floor shines like a mirror reflecting the soft light from the chandelier that hung in the ceiling. Elegant columns rose gracefully from the floor, supporting the ceiling which was adorned by intricate patterns and carvings. The walls were covered in rich tapestries artwork, each piece telling a story of its own. "You are late, why !" a cold voice snapped. I turned towards the direction and saw Carter descending the stairs, he was dressed in a black suit looking like a prince from a fairy tale. "Sorry sir, I was preparing" I replied when he got closer. Carter turned to Rodrigo, giving him a death glare but he didn't even flinch. "Follow me right now," Carter snapped and walked away. "Bastard" Abigail thought then followed him. I kept admiring the interior of the house until they arrived at a door which was golden in colour. "Remember, you are not meant to answer any question about us, leave them to me" I heard Carter said. "Okay" I replied. I know there is no way the Godfather would even notice an ant like me not to talk or ask me questions. Carter glared at me wanting to say something else but he didn't and we then entered the room. My mouth was agape as I stared at the long golden dining table with chairs that could contain twenty people. The ceiling was adorned with different kinds of chandeliers each with a different design. Even though they were different it was very beautiful and breathtaking. "Come !" Carter snapped when he saw that I was not following him. I walked towards the table where he was going and he motioned for me to sit down when I got closer to it. I sat down and continued staring, there was a door at the other side of the room which suddenly opened, a table of buffets was dragged into the room. "Is this a feast or what?" I thought about watching them. Four girls dressed in maids outfits were the ones that dragged the buffets into the room. Carter was already seated beside me and he was occasionally tugging at his tie. He seemed nervous and I don't know why, after waiting for ten minutes the door opened. A man came into the room and Carter stood up and I stood up too, the man bore a resemblance with him. He was wearing a black suit tailored to perfection highlighting his broad shoulder and imposing stature. His hands were weathered calloused, yet also adorned with a good signet ring and a Rolex watch. His eyes were piercing, dark and calculative, like the eyes of a wolf surveying his territory. An intimidating and cold aura was emanating from him which made one fall on his knees for him. This was no doubt the infamous Kingpin, he came to the table with Rodrigo and another man walking closely behind. "Take your seats" he ordered and we sat down back. Just as we had seated down, two maids came and started dishing out the food on their plates. "Umm, father this is her" Carter began pointing at me. My heart raced as his father stared at me, I turned my gaze away staring at my food. "What's your name, child?" He asked. But before I could even reply, Carter told him my name. "Her name is Abigail," that was what he said. The Kingpin didn't say anything but just focused on his food. "What do you do, Abigail?" He asked after a while. "She works in my head company," Carter replied again. I watched as his father narrowed into slits, he took a deep breath and continued eating. When they were done with the main course of the meal desserts were brought and that was when the Kingpin asked Abigail. "What did you like most about my son?" "Father, she likes so many things..." "Shut up ! Carter and let your wife speak !" Carter's father yelled at him. "Now speak" "um, I fell in love with your son the first time I saw him, he was looking so dashing and handsome that day. He came to our department to handle some things and that's how I met him and fell in love" I explained hoping that it was believable. "Hmm, that's was what I asked you" I bit my lips when I realized that it was true, I can't believe that I just messed up now. Someone was glaring at me and I didn't need to turn to know that it was Carter. "I am so sorry Sir, what I like about him is how caring he is towards me and his love for me" I said. "Sir, Abigail also loves me too and so we decided to get married" Carter chipped in. Carter's father just grunted and continued with his dessert which he was eating so slowly. Then his phone rang and he got up from his chair, "we are going to have a chat one day, Abigail" he said and then left with the other guy with him. It was then that Rodrigo sat down and food was brought to him. "You almost ruined everything !" Carter snapped at me. "I didn't do anything, did I?" I shot back at him. "You !" I thought he would hit me or something but he didn't but got up and walked out of the room. "You did a good job," Rodrigo commented. "Thank you" I said and smiled at him expecting him to smile back but he didn't. "Miss, do you want more dessert?" One of the maids asked. "Yes, thank you" I replied. She nodded and left and went to where the buffet table was, she came back with another plate. "Thanks" I said when she kept it on the table. "You like desserts?" Rodrigo asked. "Yes," I replied.
