Chapter 68 I Don't Believe Her
"I don't believe it," Isabel whispered, her voice no more than a shake. She shook all over, grasping onto the edge of the kitchen counter as if her knuckles were pale from the pressure. No, this was the sort that dug in her heels and refused to shift.
I leaned against the doorframe, watching her struggle to process everything that had just been thrown at us. My mind was racing with all the things I needed to do, but I couldn't shake the feeling that I was missing something. And it wasn't just my own safety that was at risk now. Isabel's life, Hazel's-my whole empire: everything was in the crosshairs.
