The full moon hung like a sentinel in the sky, pale and watchful. Its light washed over the forest, glinting off wet leaves and shimmering in the dew that clung to the grass. For most of the pack, it was a night of peace. A time of rest. But Selene’s sleep was troubled.
She woke long before dawn, her body slick with sweat, her breath shallow. The remnants of the dream clung to her mind like cobwebs—flashes of fire, the scent of blood, and eyes. So many eyes watching her from the woods.
