Nick was late for Josh's party, but he didn't care. He had agreed to go just because he knew that Mia and Ashley would be there too. Still, he hated the idea of having to spend the evening at a wine bar full of Josh's law school buddies, fellow interns and other future lawyer types. It was with no guilt whatsoever that Nick had chosen to come back to the apartment to take a nice shower before heading out to the party, and so what if it meant getting there much later than he was supposed to. Snickering as he once again tricked the rusty old lock into opening smoothly on the first try, Nick let himself in. As soon as the door swung shut behind him, he knew something was wrong. According to Nick's estimations, Ashley should have given Josh his undeserved birthday present by then and they should be both at the bar, Josh drinking with a shit-eating grin and Ashley sitting uncomfortably, regretting losing her anal virginity to him. Nobody was supposed to be home. But clearly that wasn't the case.
