Chapter 16 Pestered by Yao Keyi Again
His expression now was dreadful and the woman having lunch with him was shocked.
Either way, it was none of my business. My priority was the food before me.
I used my own fork and he hadn’t really touched the food, so I was fine with it.
When I finally began to feel full, I stole a glance at him. He was gazing at me, “What do you want? Just say it!”
I like his straightforwardness.
I showed him the receipt. He owed me 42.57 for breakfast yesterday.
“You came here all the way for this?” He found it rather hard to swallow.
He was rich, so he thought it was just a small amount of money. However, that wasn’t the case for me.
He searched his pockets in vain and finally he said, “My assistant is waiting for me at the door. Talk to him.”
“No hurry,” I grinned and showed him the refund record on my phone.
He frowned, “You returned what I bought you and you’re asking me for money?”
“Bingo!” I was happy with his comprehension, “You bought it for me, so I have the right to dispose of it. And I chose a refund. But the money is now back in your account. Do you prefer Alipay or Wechat?”
He looked at me seriously. No smile this time.
In fact, he was quite intimidating with that serious look.
But I wasn’t afraid at all.
I was a woman, and a gentleman like him wouldn’t beat a woman in public no matter what.
I was sure about that.
After a suffocating silence, he uttered, “Talk to my assistant.”
“No problem!” I put the phone back in the bag, grabbed the other half of a quail, and walked out of the restaurant despite the other people’s stunned gazes.
His assistant was waiting in a car, eating spaghetti. Apparently, the assistants didn’t always get a proper lunch.
I knocked on the window and he rolled it down, confused.
“Mr. Sang must have told you about me. He owes me 69,842.57.”
At this moment, his phone buzzed. He took a look and finally understood what was happening.
He got out of the car and transferred the money to my account.
With this money, I could slow down and find myself a real job.
More importantly, I needed to have an abortion.
I waved him goodbye, “Thanks.”
Then I hailed a taxi and left without hesitation.
This would be the last time I talked to Sang Qi. From today on, whether he was my child’s father or not, he would not be a part of my life anymore.
I didn’t want anything from him. What I had been looking for was simply the truth.
However, now that I had accepted the fact that the truth was beyond my reach, I didn’t want anything to do with him.
He thought I was like Yao Keyi and the other women who were crazy about him.
Yes, he was handsome and rich, but why did I care?
After all, if I was determined to marry a rich man, I wouldn’t have married Ho Cong.
I bought a lot of snacks, planning to watch a few shows and relax well before the surgery.
But when I arrived at the villa, I saw Yao Keyi’s car.
I turned around at once. However, she had spotted me and rushed to seize me by the arm, screaming, “Xia Zhi, you are such a bitch!”
When would she ever learn to be polite and calm? She was so predictable.
I wiggled out of her grasp, “Miss Yao, don’t you have any other things to do? Am I the only person you can talk to?”
She glared at me, “I know what you want from Sang Qi!”
What did I want?
His appearance, wealth, or the expensive gifts he bought me?
I didn’t want to waste time on this beautiful but silly woman.
I intended to walk away, but she caught me again. She wasn’t very tall, but surprisingly, when she dragged me with all her strength, I found it difficult to free myself.
She pulled me to her car, pushed me into it, and locked the doors immediately after she got in as well.
Since I was pregnant, I didn’t put up a fight in case I might get hurt.
She started the engine and I looked at her with the snacks in my arms, “Where are we going?”
“I’m going to show Sang Qi who you really are!”
Does she even know me? Hilarious.
I picked a pack of crunchy chips and crushed them loudly in my mouth. “There are millions of women around him. Why do you have to make it difficult for me? I’m not competing with you!”
“Don’t you try to distract me again!” She turned to me, “There are many women who crave for him, but none of them are as crafty as you!”
Crafty? All right. If she says so.
Yao Keyi pulled over in front of the Dayu Group building and was ready to get out very aggressively.
I stopped her, “He has a meeting this afternoon.”
“What?” She stared at me.
“I mean, he’s not at the company right now. He’s at the Convention Center.”
She froze, “What should I do then?”
“Meet him at the Convention Center.” For God’s sake, I was kidnapped by her and now she wanted my advice.
She turned around without a second thought. I was kind of shocked by how she trusted me so easily.
Didn’t she even try to think it through? What if I lied to her?
When we arrived at the destination, she dragged me out and rushed into the building.
“Miss Yao, can’t you calm down and use your brain for a second?” I sighed and pointed at the electronic display in the lobby. “Dayu Group, 2:45 to 4:30 pm, third floor conference room. He’s in a meeting right now. Do you want to be kicked out?”
She stopped and looked like she was at a loss.
“Really?”
“You can check it out yourself. I’m going anyway.” I sat on the couch in the lounge.
Undecided, she also decided to sit down opposite me.
Actually, I could totally run away and get rid of her right now. My life as a journalist had made me a fast runner, because well, if I couldn’t run fast, it could be very dangerous sometimes.
Yet, I didn’t. I was bored, and more importantly, I wondered how she would unmask me to Sang Qi.
It wouldn’t do any harm to be a bystander.
She began to fix her makeup while I played games on my phone. When I saw her putting on mascara, I asked curiously, “Why do you need to put on so many layers?”
“It’s none of your business!” She rolled her eyes at me and continued on.
Suddenly, she leaned towards me, “You’re not wearing makeup?”
“Nope!” Was that odd? I didn’t wear makeup except for major occasions like last night.
“You must be lying!” She wouldn’t believe me, “Is that some kind of natural look? Your skin can’t be so perfect without makeup!”
There happened to be some cleansing wipes in my bag, so I took a piece and wiped my face with it. “Look. No makeup!”
