Chapter 5 His Terrible Past
For a long time after, Zara explained the world they were in and Felix's identity.
They were currently on the Sky Continent—just like Felix had suspected, it was a cultivation-based world, where humans, demons, spirits, and monsters coexisted. Among them, humans held the dominant position. The continent had a history spanning millions of years, with a flourishing culture of cultivation.
Over time, different cultivation systems had developed, including Daoism, demonic cultivation, Buddhism, shamanism, and ghost-cultivation sects—each with its own structured methods and ranking systems.
There were ten levels of cultivation, from lowest to highest:
Qi Refinement
Foundation Establishment
Meridian Unlocking
Flight Control
Nascent Soul
Incarnation
Divinity
Transcendency
Judgment
Mahayana
The enormous peak they were currently on was called Cloud Peak, named for the way over three hundred floating peaks of various sizes surrounded it, like stars scattered across the sky. Cloud Peak was also the headquarters of the Void Sect, one of the most prestigious cultivation sects in the mortal realm.
The Void Sect had existed for over five thousand years, and its primary cultivation technique was the Void Technique. It was one of the top-tier methods in the mortal world. At its peak, this technique allowed cultivators to reach the tenth and final stage—the Mahayana.
Felix was part of the 29th generation of disciples in the sect, only eighteen years old, and his master was Elder Dragon. Currently, he was supposed to be at the third level—the Meridian Unlocking stage.
Over three years ago, however, his lustful master Dragon left the sect, claiming he wanted to train his mind through worldly experiences and "rescue women in distress." But he disappeared without a trace, and no one had heard from him since.
After his master vanished, Felix's status plummeted. Once an inner disciple, he was demoted to nothing more than a medicine boy, assigned to guard the herb garden.
As for where Felix had crawled out from the night before, it was a mass grave on the shadowy side of Moon Peak, located to the west of Cloud Peak.
Bit by bit, Felix pieced together important information:
He had a master—but that master had disappeared.
He had a job—but it was being a lowly herb boy.
He had cultivation—but only at the Meridian Unlocking stage.
"Senior Sister Zara," Felix asked cautiously, "you mentioned earlier that someone killed me and buried me in the mass grave. Do you know who did it?"
"No idea." Zara raised an eyebrow. "Your reputation in the Void Sect is terrible. Just like your master, you were known for scamming, cheating, gambling, stealing, and harassing women. You offended a lot of people. How would I know which hero decided to act on behalf of justice and get rid of you?"
"Wait… 'on behalf of justice?'" Felix's face froze.
From what she was saying, it sounded like the original Felix wasn't just flawed—he was a full-on scoundrel.
What the hell? How did he end up transmigrating into a villain's body?
Felix was having a hard time accepting this.
Seeing him sitting on a rock, staring blankly with a pained, confused expression, Zara didn't interrupt. To her, it seemed like Felix had genuinely lost his memory after crawling out of the grave. His current struggle looked like the result of self-repentance, unable to reconcile himself with his past actions.
Little did she know, Felix wasn't repenting—he was mentally cursing the original Felix.
"You idiot!" Felix fumed inwardly. "You were in a top-tier cultivation sect, and instead of working hard to improve, you wasted your life on nonsense! You died, and now I'm stuck here trying to clean up your mess. I just got here! I want to survive, learn how to fly with a sword, and date fairy-like women! But no, you had to make enemies everywhere and screw me over!"
Gradually, the sky to the east started to brighten.
The morning had come.
Zara stood up and asked, "I'm heading back. What's your plan?"
Felix snapped back to reality. After a moment of thought, he said, "Senior Sister Zara, can you take me up the mountain with you?"
Zara hesitated for a second, then nodded. "Alright."
Felix beamed with joy. "Thank you, Senior Sister Zara! Just give me a moment..."
Under her suspicious gaze, Felix ran over to the creek on the north side of the pool. He moved a few rocks aside and pulled out his clothes, which had been soaking in the water all night.
"Let me get dressed real quick. I'll be ready in no time…"
Zara's expression darkened instantly. Her face was cold as she started walking slowly toward Felix.
Felix, completely oblivious to the storm brewing, kept putting on his wet clothes.
Suddenly, Zara asked, "Why are your clothes here? Didn't you say you stumbled over here in a panic while being chased by a tiger?"
Felix's heart dropped into his stomach. He looked up to find Zara radiating pure killing intent, her entire body ice-cold with fury.
Backing away frantically, Felix stammered, "W-wait, Senior Sister Zara! Let me explain! I swear, I didn't see anything last night! I wasn't peeking while you were bathing! Honest!"
Inwardly, Felix cursed himself for being a complete idiot. Why the hell did he have to grab those wet clothes?
Now he had basically admitted he'd been lurking around the area all along!
Before he could think of anything else, a blur of white flashed before his eyes—and suddenly, he was airborne.
Wait... how is he flying? He's not even at the Flight Control stage!
The next moment, a sharp pain shot through his stomach.
Felix flew backward nine or ten yards and hit the ground hard. Blood churned inside him, and he coughed up a mouthful of it.
Meanwhile, Zara calmly lowered her long leg.
With a crisp "clink," her sword slid from its scabbard, glowing with a blinding white light.
"You little creep! You dared to peek at me... I'll kill you!"
The sword shot toward Felix, and his pupils shrank in sheer terror. His soul practically left his body as fear took hold. His vision darkened, and before he knew it, his eyes rolled back and he passed out cold.
Zara's sword stopped just two inches from his throat.
Her expression flickered as she stared down at the unconscious boy.
As one of the top talents of the Void Sect, Zara wasn't just powerful—she was smart. She knew full well that Felix must have been spying on her while she bathed.
The thought of him seeing her body filled her with shame and fury. She bit her lip hard, several times debating whether or not to drive the sword through his neck.
But in the end, she couldn't bring herself to do it.
After a couple of minutes, Zara gritted her teeth and growled, "Felix, you better believe this isn't over!"
With that, she sheathed her sword, leapt onto the back of her white crane, and flew toward the front side of Cloud Peak.
