Chapter 2 : Can't Wait a Moment
Three days later, at the Saint An Cemetery--
The thunderstorm of midsummer arrived without warning, with intense lightning cutting through the dark gray clouds.
Yan Mian knelt in front of the tombstone, as motionless as a fragile sculpture.
"Grandma, I've been secretly studying medicine. Why couldn't you wait for me..."
A series of footsteps suddenly sounded amidst the rain--
Before she could turn around, a hard heel kicked her shoulder.
With a loud thud, her forehead hit the tombstone, and blood gushed out.
"You bitch, I knew you were here!"
Yan Feifei grabbed Yan Mian's hair, "You're guarding this dead old lady and not answering my calls, huh?"
Her scalp was in excruciating pain, and Yan Mian's face was covered in blood. In an instant, her angry eyes filled with intense hatred.
"Don't you dare mention my grandma!"
Her whole body trembled, and her anger almost overwhelmed her rationality. The sudden eruption of a powerful aura startled Yan Feifei.
After a brief moment of shock, Yan Feifei's eyes filled with even more hostility. "You've grown wings, daring to challenge me?"
She swung her arm and slapped Yan Mian, then let go.
Yan Mian fell face-first into the muddy ground.
Her fingertips dug into the soil, oozing blood. Weakened by her body's burden, shadows engulfed her vision, and she had no strength left...
Yan Feifei's voice, filled with resentment, reached her ears.
"Lift her up and take her back to the villa!"
Yan Mian's fingertips twitched, and she took a deep breath, shouting, "Don't... touch me!"
That wasn't her home, and she didn't want to go back!
Yan Feifei's expression instantly changed. She wanted to make a move, but was interrupted by a crisp ringing of the phone.
Impatiently, she answered, "Dad, I've caught her. I'll be back soon..."
Something hurried was said on the other end of the phone. Yan Feifei's expression changed multiple times, then she hurriedly spoke, "Quick, move her behind the tombstone!"
With a loud thud--
Yan Mian was ruthlessly thrown behind the tombstone.
She didn't know what Yan Feifei was planning, but she had to leave quickly!
Bo Jingyan stared coldly at the woman in front of him. From a meter and a half away, he caught a whiff of her strong perfume.
His sharp eyebrows furrowed, and his thin lips slightly parted.
"Miss Yan, may I ask you a question? That night, why did you appear at the door of my room?"
After checking the check-in information and sporadic surveillance footage, all the clues pointed to her as the woman from that night.
Yan Feifei had to endure the pressure of his cold aura. Her neck felt a chill, but she still responded with a shy answer.
"I... I didn't leave because you didn't let me. So, I had to stay with you."
Her words were tactful, and those who needed to understand would understand.
Bo Jingyan's handsome face turned icy. He couldn't control himself that night because he was drugged.
Lost in thought, he heard a faint sound in the distance.
He furrowed his brows and walked past her, step by step, towards the tombstone.
Yan Feifei's heart skipped a beat. What was that little bitch doing now?
"Master Bo, you..." She wanted to say something to divert his attention.
But Bo Jingyan ignored her and walked past her.
Yan Feifei wanted to stop him, but his assistant, Shen Feng, stepped in her way.
"Miss Yan, please stay." His tone was forceful.
Yan Feifei's face visibly paled, and her body tensed even more.
"Meow—" Suddenly, a little stray cat darted out from beside the tombstone.
The next moment, Bo Jingyan bent down and picked something up.
She took a closer look and immediately blurted out, "That's my necklace!"
It was a jade green agate, something Yan Mian had carried with her since she was young. She didn't snatch it because she thought the color was too dull.
Bo Jingyan's eyes turned cold, and his fingertips caressed the surface of the jade--the same texture he felt that night.
So, the sweet and fragrant woman crying in his arms was really Yan Feifei?
He turned around and stood still. "Since that's the case, Miss Yan, I will take responsibility for you."
