Chapter 4 Miracle Hands at Work
"Beep, beep!" The machine near the little girl’s bed suddenly emitted a sharp alarm.
Everyone jumped in shock. The girl’s breathing became erratic, her face flushed, and her limbs started twitching. Foam began forming at the corners of her mouth.
"What’s going on?" Panic spread through the room.
"Dr. Henry, what’s wrong with my daughter?" Simon asked, his voice trembling with urgency.
"She’s having difficulty breathing. Blood pressure is spiking. Her heart is weakening!" Dr. Henry exclaimed, alarmed as he assessed her condition.
"Quickly, get the ventilator and administer a cardiac stimulant!" He directed the assistants and nurses.
They scrambled to set up the ventilator and administer the injection, but despite their efforts, the girl’s condition continued to worsen. Her face turned purple.
"What do we do now?"
"How can this be called a rescue? If anything happens to my daughter, I won’t let any of you off the hook!" Simon roared, his emotions on the verge of collapse. Having had a daughter in his later years, she was the apple of his eye.
Henry and Alan wiped sweat from their foreheads, both feeling the immense pressure.
"It must be mucus blocking her airway. Use the suction device," Henry suggested, and the medical staff rushed to comply.
Despite their frantic efforts, the girl’s condition deteriorated further.
Seeing this, Sebastian, who had been holding back, could no longer stay silent.
Using his X-ray vision earlier, he had seen toxins spreading through the girl’s body and approaching her heart. If left untreated, she would not survive.
I would have normally stayed out of this, he thought. But ever since awakening his inherited memories and mastering the celestial art of healing, his character had undergone subtle changes. Faced with the sight of an innocent child on the brink of death, he couldn’t ignore it.
"Move aside!" Sebastian leapt off his bed and rushed to the girl’s side.
"What are you doing?" Everyone turned to him in shock. Amid the chaos of the rescue, no one had paid attention to the patient in the neighboring bed.
Before anyone could react, Sebastian pressed his finger on an acupoint on the girl’s chest.
"Blegh!" The girl immediately coughed up a large mouthful of black blood.
Everyone stood frozen in shock, the air thick with tension.
He must have gone crazy after the accident! Evelyn thought, watching nervously.
"Who are you, and what do you think you’re doing?" Alan shouted angrily.
Henry felt faint, thinking, This is it. The hospital is doomed.
"Who let this lunatic in? Security, get him out now!" an attending doctor bellowed.
"You brat, I’ll kill you!" Simon’s face was red with fury as he prepared to lunge at Sebastian.
But the next moment, everyone noticed that the girl’s convulsing limbs had stilled.
"Her breathing is stabilizing!"
"Blood pressure is returning to normal!"
"Heart rate is steady!" a nurse reported, staring at the monitors in disbelief.
Everyone gawked at the instruments, unable to comprehend what they were seeing.
"You… you!" Henry and Alan turned to Sebastian, too stunned to form words.
"What are you standing there for? Get me a set of acupuncture needles!" Sebastian ordered sharply.
"Quick, fetch acupuncture needles from the Traditional Medicine Department!" Henry called out to a nurse.
The needles arrived shortly after.
Sebastian took them with the confidence of a seasoned healer. He skillfully inserted them into specific acupoints on the girl’s chest and head. Upon close observation, one could see the tips of the needles trembling faintly.
He then used the needles to prick the girl’s middle fingers and the base of her thumbs, drawing out a few drops of black blood.
Everyone around watched, wide-eyed with amazement.
Sebastian’s fluid and precise technique left the onlookers astonished.
The girl’s breathing and heart rate grew steadier, and her complexion turned rosy. She slowly opened her eyes, looked at Simon, and weakly called out, "Daddy," before sitting up.
"A miracle doctor! A miracle doctor!" Simon shouted with joy, rushing to embrace Sebastian.
Sebastian calmly pushed him away. At that moment, he felt a faint surge of the mysterious vitality within his body.
"Doctor, what exactly was wrong with my daughter?" Simon asked, his voice still trembling with relief.
"She was likely infected with a virus from an animal, which caused the high fever. I’ve expelled the toxic blood. Monitor her condition. If there are no further issues, she can go home," Sebastian explained.
"Thank you, miracle doctor!" Simon bowed repeatedly in gratitude.
"Mr. Haynes, we’ll move your daughter to a private room for observation. We also need to identify what kind of animal the virus came from," Alan said, recognizing the seriousness of the situation.
"Of course, of course," Simon agreed quickly.
"Doctor, may I ask for your name…" Henry began, smiling warmly as he tried to start a conversation with Sebastian.
"This is Highmere Hospital?" Sebastian interrupted.
"Yes, it is!"
"Not good!" Without another word, Sebastian turned and walked out.
