Chapter 2 Drive Her Away
After a while, a maid pushed a wheelchair in, and a delicate and beautiful lady was sitting on it. She was none other than Zachary's first love, Sophie.
Two years ago, Sophie was in a car accident and fell into a vegetative state. The doctors had given up hope of her waking up.
Zachary had consulted numerous doctors and spared no effort for her. Finally, she regained consciousness.
Although they had not officially divorced, he was eager to bring her back home, with the clear intention of pressuring Nina to step down.
Nina's heart began to ache once again.
"Nina, it's been a while. You've worked hard these past two years by doing things for me that I couldn't. Zach hasn't mistreated you, has he?" Her delicate voice was soft.
"No. Zach has been very kind to me." Zachary was indeed more caring and gentler than any other man, but the one thing he lacked was love for Nina.
Sophie had a gentle and beautiful demeanor, which was a suitable match for Zachary.
"Nina, you've endured a lot. Now that I'm awake, I won't trouble you with future matters. When will you be moving out? I'll have the butler arrange for your transportation."
Despite Sophie being in a wheelchair, her presence overshadowed Nina's. She exuded the aura of a mistress.
As the two conversed, Zachary entered from outside while holding Sophie's coat.
"What are you two discussing about?"
"Nothing much, Zachary. I was just catching up with Nina. It's been two years, and Nina looks even more beautiful than before. I envy her so much. I can't even compare to her anymore."
Zachary smiled indulgently at her, then turned to Nina and suggested, "Nina, we have guests. Why don't you prepare breakfast? Sophie enjoys salmon congee, and you happen to make it well."
He knew Sophie's preferences so well; it must be true love.
Since they were on the verge of divorce, Nina decided to make him breakfast one last time.
While Nina was in the kitchen preparing breakfast, Sophie and Zachary were engrossed in conversation in the living room. They appeared very affectionate.
Nina's heart felt like it was being torn apart.
The fish on the cutting board emitted a strong odor, making her feel nauseous. She crouched by the trash can and retched.
Zachary and Sophie were so engrossed in their conversation that they didn't notice what was happening in the kitchen.
Nina was lost in thought, and she accidentally cut her hand while handling the fish.
"Ah!" She cried out, and the knife clattered onto the stove.
"Nina, what happened?" Zachary rushed in and saw her bleeding finger.
"Why were you so careless?" He took her hand and rinsed the wound.
Nina pulled her hand back instinctively. Since they were getting a divorce, it was best to avoid any ambiguous actions to prevent Sophie from misunderstanding.
"Mr. Malone, tomorrow is Monday, and the city hall is open. Let's go through with the divorce procedures."
Zachary was momentarily stunned as he said, "I have a business trip on Monday. Let's discuss it when I return. Your hand is injured; go bandage it. You don't need to make breakfast anymore; I'll ask Mya to handle it."
"Okay."
"Sophie has difficulty moving around and wants to stay here for a while. If you feel uncomfortable, you can move to Jade Garden."
"No need. I'll go back to my parents' house!" Nina's heartache was unbearable. She wanted to drive her away, but there was no need for this excuse. She would leave on her own!
She had already decided to move out today!
"If you move back like this, won't your parents worry?"
"Do you think they won't worry just because we're divorced?" Nina asked while covering her heart. She felt nauseous and uncomfortable as her stomach churned.
She didn't understand what was happening to her lately. She constantly felt nauseous, had no appetite, and her temper was very bad.
