Chapter 2 I Am Not Old
In response to Tristan's order, Felix replied, “Okay.”
Immediately, Felix had Tristan taken to Horington General Hospital. Although the latter's wounds had been treated, he still needed to be examined at the hospital to determine his exact condition.
The doctor at Horington General Hospital couldn't help but marvel after examining Tristan's wounds.
Despite being the director of the surgery department at Horington General Hospital, even he found it a bit trick in the face of a wound in such a location. The wound was dangerously close to the heart, and one false move could cause damage to the organ.
But guess what? The other guy not only stopped the bleeding but also made sure that the heart was not damaged at all.
He was certain that the individual who treated Tristan's wounds was no ordinary person.
“Are you sure? There are no issues with his wounds?” Felix couldn't help but feel anxious, only to hear the doctor saying that the treatment of the wounds was very professional. Could it be that a doctor saved him?
“Mr. Tristan, you should thank the person who tended to your wounds. They prevented you from losing too much blood.”
As a doctor, he was gratified that someone saved a patient who had lost too much blood with professional skills timely and reiterated, “You really should thank the person.”
“Regrettably, I have no idea who it was.” Tristan also wished to know who exactly had saved him. All he knew was that it was a girl.
"The wound was treated successfully and requires a few months of rest."
Once the director had left, Tristan glanced at Felix, and the latter immediately left to investigate the matter.
Early the following morning, Felix arrived at Tristan's hospital room, only to find that the man had already gotten out of bed.
“Mr. Tristan, are you trying to kill yourself?”
How could he disregard his well-being to such an extent? If his grandfather in Jipsdale were to learn that he's currently injured, he would surely rush over immediately. Is he trying to get me killed?
“Enough with the nonsense.” Tristan didn't want to hear any more of his comments.
“I found her. Here you go.”
Felix handed a stack of documents to him.
Upon opening the file and pulling out the documents within, Tristan couldn't help but frown.
“A student in her senior year?” A senior could actually treat wounds with such professional skills? “Felix, have you been slacking off at work lately? How dare you try to fool me with this kind of information?”
Immediately, Felix waved his hands in denial.
“I know it's hard for you to believe it. I was taken aback when I first saw the information. But I've double-checked, and it's indeed her. Moreover, she's already twenty years old.”
He then held a photo out at Tristan.
Tristan took the photo, his eyes landing on the face on it. It was a face one could never forget—youthful, vibrant, and breathtakingly beautiful. Her eyes, in particular, were captivating.
“A twenty-year-old girl actually dared to tend to your wounds when you were covered in blood, and her skills earned a doctor's admiration. How intriguing!”
Then, Felix asked, “Mr. Tristan, are we returning to Jipsdale?” No sooner had we set foot in Horington than such an incident occurred. It seems someone is terrified of our arrival.
“Why would we be doing so when the issue has yet to be resolved? Are you scared? If you are, you can go back first.”
The corners of Felix's mouth inexorably twitched.
“Don't tell my grandfather about me being injured.”
“What if Old Mr. Lombard asks about it? Am I still to keep mum?”
“Don't say anything.” If I can't handle even such a trivial issue, would I still deserve my reputation?
“Let's go and meet this young lady.”
At that moment, Sophie had her path blocked by a few ruffians.
“Hey, you're Sophie Tanner, right?”
She wore a white shirt, her sleeves rolled up to reveal a generous expanse of her fair wrist.
Since she couldn't be bothered to entertain them, she just kept on walking.
“D*mn it! Jack, she's ignoring you.” One of the underlings couldn't stand it anymore, for no one dared to disrespect their leader in that territory.
The lead ruffian, Jack Keyes, was also enraged. He stormed up to Sophie.
“I'm talking to you! Are you deaf or something?” He tried to grab Sophie's hand.
At last, Sophie stopped in her tracks, spitting out the chewing gum from her mouth.
“Leave me alone!”
Every single word was cold and icy.
“Heh! That's quite the temper you have there. Let me tell you this—you've messed with the wrong person.”
Having said that, Jack geared up to make a move against her.
However, before he had even touched her, Sophie swiftly executed a shoulder throw. The thug crashed to the ground, rendered immobile.
“Do you know who I am? My father is—”
Sophie really didn't want to hear him yak any longer, so she firmly planted a foot on his face.
“Shut up.” She was utterly annoyed.
The other ruffians were scared out of their wits. How on earth could she be so formidable?
“Call my father! I want Sophie Tanner to vanish from this turf completely!” Jack bellowed at the top of his lungs.
Upon seeing Sophie's ruthlessness, everyone else began to whisper among themselves.
Rumor had it that she had been rebellious since she was young and got pregnant by a thug during middle school, upon which she went to a clinic and had an abortion. Ashamed of her, her family had sent her to Horington and left her to fend for herself.
Sophie paid no mind to the vile condemnation behind her but continued forward.
Unexpectedly, after she had walked a distance away, a black car pulled up beside her. Subsequently, the door swung open.
A tall and handsome man walked up her.
“Nice to meet you, Ms. Tanner! I am Felix Northley. My employer, Mr. Tristan, wishes to have a word with you.”
Sophie took a piece of chewing gum out of her pocket and tossed it into her mouth.
Felix had already opened the back car door, and Sophie got in.
Upon seeing the man seated inside, she realized he was the person she saved last night.
“You're quite lucky you're still alive despite having lost so much blood.” The expression on Sophie's beautiful face remained unchanged, and she was as nonchalant as ever. Her captivating eyes were devoid of emotions.
Her words were quite blunt. Felix, in the passenger seat, widened his eyes in surprise.
Even in Jipsdale, few people dare to speak to him in such a manner!
“I'm Tristan Lombard. Thank you for saving me yesterday.”
Tristan handed her a business card.
Without even bothering to glance at it, Sophie stuffed it right into her bag.
“Do you study medicine?” Felix voiced the question in his mind. No only is she only twenty years old, but she's even attending a rather subpar high school. Could she really have the expertise to treat his wounds?
In response, Sophie shook her head.
“No. My neighbor is a veterinarian. I've helped him out a few times.”
Hearing that, Felix couldn't help but look at Tristan.
Whoa! The high and mighty Mr. Tristan was treated by this girl as if he were a kitten or puppy.
“A veterinarian can also treat human wounds?”
“Yeah... all wounds are almost the same.”
After saying that, Sophie instructed the driver, “Drop me off at the next intersection.”
At her words, the driver couldn't help but glance back at Tristan. The latter gave a slight nod.
Upon reaching the intersection, the driver pulled over, and Sophie got out of the car.
“Ms. Tanner, are you sure you don't need our help?” She seems to have just crossed someone she shouldn't have earlier.
“No, thanks.”
Sophie gave a dismissive wave of her hand, for she could resolve the issue herself.
Before Tristan's car had even driven off, Sophie hailed a taxi and left.
“How cool.” Felix had never seen such a cool girl, much less one so beautiful. “Mr. Tristan, do you think her words are trustable?”
“What do you think?” Tristan didn't even bother to look at him. “Interesting.”
Felix was taken aback. Is he saying that he finds this young lady interesting?
“Mr. Tristan, don't tell me you've fallen for her? I admit she's beautiful, even more so than the beauties in Jipsdale, but... she's still a high school student!”
Tristan swept his eyes over the man.
“I'm not old myself, only twenty-two years old.”
Felix fell silent. That's true. The young lady's information indicates that she's twenty years old, seemingly having taken a two-year hiatus from school. That makes her only two years younger than him.
