Chapter 10 You Sure You Want to Let Me Go?
“She started it,” Jordan said pitifully, and he gave his mother the puppy-eyes treatment.
Caitlin knew her son was faking it, but she couldn’t resist him. Shaking her head, she said, “That’s how Lily shows affection. What you did was unbecoming of a gentleman, don’t you think?”
“Fine, I’ll apologize.” Jordan stopped giving her the puppy eyes, and then he sighed and went out.
Lily adored Jordan, since he was a pleasant child to look at. She couldn’t be angry at him, so it didn’t take long for her to be all touchy again.
Jordan took it silently for his mother, but he tried his best to put some distance between him and Lily, and the trio spent the night in a cordial atmosphere.
When Caitlin woke up the next morning, her son was already back with breakfast, and he had served it on the table.
“Good morning, mommy.” He grinned at Caitlin. Even though the boy looked similar to Max, the latter had never smiled at her before. Jordan was her angel, and he belonged only to her.
“Good morning.” Caitlin patted his head cheerfully.
Lily came out when she heard them talk. When she saw breakfast on the table, she said happily, “You’re an angel, Caitlin. You even bought breakfast! Great! I can finally have something to eat before going to work today.”
“Jordan bought it. I just woke up.”
Caitlin was used to how her friend was behaving, but Jordan frowned. “Do I really have to go to Miss Scott’s kindergarten, mommy?” he said with disdain.
Lily was annoyed. “What’s with that attitude, you brat? I am the best teacher in the kindergarten, you know.”
“Bah!” Jordan sat down and started eating his breakfast.
Lily felt like crying, but Caitlin had scurried away from this mayhem.
“I’ll be going to wash myself up now. Have to report to Eterman Group today, see.”
“Caitlin, you traitor!” Lily stomped her feet, but Caitlin had entered the bathroom.
After messing around in the morning, Jordan went to the kindergarten with Lily, while Caitlin went toward Eterman Group. She was married to him eight years ago, but was forced to leave this city five years back. Even as the Cooper Family’s daughter-in-law as well as Max’s wife, she had never entered Eterman Group. Now, she had returned, but with a new face, literally. I wonder if Max had had a good night’s sleep when he saw my name?
Caitlin smiled, but a shard of hate glinted in her eyes. She calmed herself down, then took a step into the company.
“Excuse me, miss, but who are you?” The receptionist stopped her after she noticed Caitlin.
Caitlin looked at Eterman Group’s lobby. Looks great. No wonder it’s the top company in Ocean City. Though now that I have returned, that might not be the case for the Cooper Family in the future.
“I am here for Max. Name’s Catherine, the designer sent by US’ HJ Group. Here to report for duty.” Caitlin smiled.
The receptionist was shocked, and she quickly smiled. “Do please wait a minute, Miss Catherine. I’ll inform President Cooper about this right away.”
“Of course.” Caitlin waited at the reception, and she didn’t pester the receptionist further.
At this moment, a familiar voice came from behind her. “Is Max here, Miss Roberts? He left in a hurry this morning, so he missed breakfast. I’m here to give him something to eat. You don’t have to tell him. I’ll go straight up.” Eliza came quickly, a thermos in her hands.
She’s still as beautiful as ever, even after five years of not seeing her. I think her body got even curvier. Caitlin looked at her, a hint of fury flitting within her eyes.
Eliza turned around when she sensitively felt Caitlin’s gaze. When Eliza was met with her gaze, Caitlin had already pushed her anger down, though the former frowned nonetheless.
“Who are you, and why are you here? Look at you, looking all slutty and whorish. You can’t be here for my Max, can you?” Eliza called her various names, for she was jealous of how gorgeous Caitlin looked.
She felt Caitlin emanating a menacing vibe. She’s too beautiful! Even more so than I am! Look at that face! And that body! She was almost entranced, and Eliza was a woman, let alone a man. At the thought of this, she started going on guard. “Miss Roberts, get the security to chase this woman out of Eterman Group!”
Eliza’s orders put the receptionist in a dilemma. However, before she could explain who Caitlin was to Eliza, the lady in question smiled. Her smile alone was enough to catch everyone’s attention. “And who are you? What position do you hold in Eterman Group? Are you sure you want to chase me out?”
Caitlin spoke slowly and calmly. There was a hint of mockery and sarcasm in her eyes, which was caught by Eliza. This made her think that Caitlin was provoking her.
