“Are you leaving?” Max was suddenly unwilling to part with Jordan, and it was both contradictory and confusing. The results of the test weren’t out yet, but he seemed to have already perceived Jordan as his son, for Jordan wouldn’t hold so much animosity toward him otherwise. It was as if he could only rest assured and lessen the guilt he felt by thinking like that.
Jordan nodded in response upon seeing the jacket in Max’s hand, knowing that he was about to leave the house as well. William ran out from his room while yelling, “Jordan, you should come visit me tomorrow too!” He looked up to find Max present in front of him, and he suddenly felt embarrassed. “Daddy,” he greeted Max while standing upright, with all his previous childishness reined in.
