After Caitlin had left, Max had someone make arrangements for him to transfer hospitals. He did it in such secrecy that no one knew where he went. It was during dinner that Caitlin learned that he’d transferred hospitals. She’d cooked pigeon soup for him, but when she asked Dexter to deliver it to him, Dexter said that he wasn’t at the initial hospital anymore, yet he didn’t specify where he’d gone. She knew then that she’d hurt him deeply this time. Looking at Caitlin, Dexter asked in a murmur, “Mrs. Cooper, President Cooper said to ask you your motive in coming back this time. As long as he’s of use, just say the word. Any and every resource of the Cooper Family is available to you however you wish to utilize them.”
