Chapter 5 The Power of Life and Family
The life judgment worked. There was hope for his sister.
Bryan didn't look too well. After briefly waking, he quickly fell back into unconsciousness. The doctors rushed to administer oxygen and sent him to the hospital for further treatment.
"Selina, that scum has disappeared," Spencer muttered through clenched teeth as he looked around.
Everyone had been too focused on Bryan's miraculous revival, and Dwayne had seized the chance to slip away. "I'll send people after him immediately."
That scum seemed to have guessed the cause of Bryan's condition. To avoid any trouble, he had to die!
"Don't," Selina interrupted quickly.
Yes, maybe Dwayne was a fraud. After all, he hadn't performed acupuncture or massage. He'd just stood there with his hand out as if he were some kind of mystic. But hadn't her grandpa still woken up?
Selina had grown up alongside her grandpa, traveling and meeting influential people. She had encountered some strange but capable individuals, perhaps Dwayne was one of them.
It could bring severe consequences for the entire Yorm Family if they provoked him.
As the Yorm Family's primary successor, Selina's wisdom and foresight were unmatched, enabling her to make the right decisions in unlikely situations.
Selina instructed the bodyguards, "Use all available resources and personnel. Search every hospital patient and family member, even doctors and nurses. We must find the benefactor."
"Yes!"
Spencer's eyes flashed with a cold gleam. You insolent woman. How dare you defy me time and time again. Just wait. One day, both you and the Yorm Family will be mine. And as for that scum, you'd better stay gone. If you ever appear again, I'll ensure your whole family pays!
Dwayne rushed to his sister's hospital room as fast as he could.
He felt heartbroken when seeing his sister lying there, pale and unconscious, after a round of chemotherapy.
He steadied his emotions, then began to channel his energy, calming the disturbance in his core.
Spencer's interference had destabilized Dwayne's energy channels, and he worried that it might have left some adverse effects. But he had no time to think about that now. He placed his left hand on his sister's forehead.
Name: Claire Shaw
Age: 27
Cause: Prolonged exhaustion from night shifts, poor diet, and accumulated toxins at the limit of what the body could withstand.
Effect: Triggered lymphoma, with infections throughout the body.
Result: Judged as Level Two Life.
Why is it Level Two?
Dwayne didn't dwell on it and immediately activated his power. The halo rotated, and the first layer began to glow golden.
Then, the second layer also emitted a golden light, spreading counterclockwise slowly but only a third of the way before it stopped entirely.
At this point, Dwayne was utterly drained.
Obviously, he couldn't complete the Level Two Life judgment with his current strength.
He was exhausted and slumped to the floor.
The light faded into Claire's body, bringing a rosy color back to her face and steadying her breathing.
Dwayne checked her condition and sighed with relief. The disease was still present, but her condition had significantly improved. It seemed that the worse the ailment, the higher the judgment level needed.
Although Bryan's condition had appeared more severe, it was fundamentally just poisoning. His advanced age and the prolonged exposure had pushed him to the brink. In terms of the root cause, it was a lower level than cancer.
However, Dwayne would still need to reach a Level Two Life judgment to completely cure his sister. But he didn't have the energy to think about that right now.
Claire had woken up. "Your crying face is so ugly. How will any girl ever like you in the future?" she teased, reaching up to wipe the tears from Dwayne's face.
She hadn't expected to lift her hand. She hadn't even dared to think of doing that before.
Could this be the last flicker of life?
Claire felt a bit reluctant but mostly relieved. She knew everything Dwayne had sacrificed for her. If he hadn't threatened her repeatedly to get treatment, she would have ended her life long ago.
This silly brother wouldn't have to bear this burden if I were gone.
"When I'm gone, you have to take good care of yourself, okay?" she said with a tilted smile.
Dwayne looked at her, caught between laughter and tears. They were close, and he could sense what she was thinking.
He immediately called a doctor to run a complete check-up on her. At first, the doctor didn't think it was necessary.
Claire's cancer had reached stage four. Even with the best treatments available, she had no more than three months left. But the test results left the doctor speechless.
The news even reached the hospital's top experts, who examined her scans in awe, exclaiming that it was a miracle.
Although the cancer was still there, it was progressing in a positive direction.
The following day, the hospital scheduled another examination to assess her recovery further.
Dwayne felt that this was unnecessary. After all, he had The Hand of Yama. No one knew his sister's condition better than he did.
But to silence the doctors, he agreed to the extra tests. He left Claire in the waiting room while he went to get the number.
When he returned, he saw four men surrounding Claire. One of them, a tall and thin man with yellow-dyed hair, was being handsy. It was Lester.
Last night, Lester had been out drinking with some friends. They'd gotten so drunk that he'd crashed into a utility pole.
In the morning, he woke up with a headache and came to the hospital for an X-ray.
