Chapter 10 The Yorm Dragon Jade
William, usually unflappable as Old Mr. Yorm's chief steward, was visibly shaken, leaving everyone around in surprise.
All eyes locked onto the jade pendant in Callum's hand.
Callum thought he had taken something he shouldn't have, and he was on the verge of tears. "M-Mr. Thompson, I… I didn't mean… I…"
"This is unmistakably the Yorm Dragon Jade."
"The highest symbol of the Yorm family. Holding this jade is as if you're meeting Old Mr. Yorm himself.
"But how did the small Lynn family come to possess the Yorm Dragon Jade?"
Other families nearby, catching sight of the pendant, gasped in shock.
The Yorm Dragon Jade?
The Lynn family members froze, speechless.
They had only heard whispers of such a treasure and had never seen the Yorm Dragon Jade.
Was this gift from their son-in-law… the Yorm Dragon Jade?
William, meanwhile, looked equally baffled.
In the Yorm family's century-long history, only three such jades had ever been given out—and never to the Lynn family.
Wait! Just yesterday, Old Mr. Yorm had been saved by an unknown young man, and Miss Yorm had gifted the Yorm Dragon Jade as a token of gratitude. Could it be that this mysterious young man is actually connected to the Lynns?
William's face grew resolute as he turned to Michelle, saying, "Wait here. I'll be right back."
The Lynn family exchanged bewildered glances, unsure what to make of the unfolding situation.
With that, William immediately disappeared into the crowd.
The people of the Lynn family gradually calmed down.
They exchanged glances with each other, deciding they would blame Dwayne if this brought any trouble from the Yorm family. But if there were benefits, they would be quick to take credit.
Just a few minutes later, a buzz stirred in the crowd.
William had returned, accompanied by a woman in a black evening gown with striking red lips, a perfect hourglass figure, and captivating eyes.
The high slit in her dress revealed long, sleek legs, pale and gleaming like ice, a natural allure radiating from her.
Her beauty was nothing short of mesmerizing—impossible for any man to ignore.
Selina Yorm was hurrying, practically running.
The day before, her grandpa had been rushed to the hospital. Though his condition had stabilized, his recovery still required specialized treatment.
Frustratingly, the doctors remained clueless about the root cause, leaving him without a definitive treatment plan.
Selina had thought of Dwayne and used every connection to track him down.
But, as if someone was deliberately interfering, her search had hit a dead end.
Now, her benefactor was finally here. She could hardly contain her excitement.
The Lynns, realizing who was approaching, felt a collective wave of dread wash over them, nearly scattering their wits.
There stood Selina Yorm herself—Old Mr. Yorm's cherished granddaughter and future head of the Yorm family!
How did William manage to get her here?
Michelle's heart pounded, and she immediately bowed low. "Greetings, Miss Yorm."
Selina's gaze fell on the Yorm Dragon Jade in Callum's hand, and a flicker of disappointment crossed her face.
Ignoring Michelle, she stepped right up to Callum, cutting straight to the chase. "Why is the Yorm Dragon Jade—the gift I reserved for my benefactor—in your possession?"
"Benefactor?" Callum stammered.
William explained, "Yesterday, Old Mr. Yorm was critically ill and was saved by a benefactor who brought him back from the edge of death. Miss Yorm personally entrusted the Yorm Dragon Jade to him as a mark of gratitude."
The crowd suddenly realized what had happened.
So that's how Old Mr. Yorm's miraculous recovery happened—a mysterious savior had intervened. And this savior… was from the Lynn family?
Samuel's eyes brightened as he stepped forward, asking, "Miss Yorm, Mr. Thompson, is this benefactor perhaps a young man, around twenty-three to twenty-five, modestly dressed, over six feet tall?"
The Lynn family quickly realized Samuel was describing Dwayne.
Selina asked excitedly, "You know him?"
Samuel declared, "He's my disciple."
He then went on, "Just yesterday, he told me he'd saved an elderly man who had given him a jade pendant. I didn't think much of it until now, but it seems he was the one who saved Old Mr. Yorm. What a twist of fate!"
Selina asked in surprise. "You're a doctor?"
Michelle stepped in proudly. "Miss Yorm, my eldest son has studied medicine since he was a child and is a respected professor at a medical university. The Lynn family, in fact, built its fortune in the medical field."
Selina nodded, understanding. "Sir, I'd like to meet your disciple. I have something important I'd like to ask him. Would that be possible?" she asked with a smile.
Samuel's face faltered for a moment. To arrange a meeting would be impossible. But refusing outright? With someone as sharp as Selina, that would only raise suspicions.
After a brief pause, he put on a regretful look. "Miss Yorm, I'm afraid my disciple just left for his mountain village—remote and cut off. It'll be some time before he's back. But whatever help you need, I'll make sure you have it."
Though disappointed, Selina didn't press further. "Since you're offering, I'll hold you and your family to that. And as a token of the Yorm family's appreciation, we'll extend a series of partnerships and support to the Lynn family as a sign of gratitude."
The Lynn family relatives beamed with excitement.
Families and influential figures in the crowd looked on, green with envy.
Selina's public pledge had just solidified the Lynn family's reputation, tying them to the powerful Yorm family.
With this alliance, who would dare underestimate the Lynns now?
