Chapter 5 Changing Houses
However, in the face of Henry's arrogant laughter, Ethan simply met it with a calm gaze.
He couldn't have made the same mistake as Billy. He had noticed the contents of the divorce agreement long ago. He just didn't care about it.
At that moment, Ethan was no longer the ordinary man they had met a few hours ago. If he could completely part ways with the woman named Olivia for a mere few hundred thousand in Atharian currency, Ethan felt it would be a profitable deal.
The mockery did not receive the response it deserved, which left Henry feeling somewhat bored.
“Have you had your fill of laughter? If so, then get lost!” said Ethan.
“Hmph! Henry, help me pack up,” Olivia said. Seeing that Ethan had no reaction to being dumped by her, Olivia suddenly felt very indignant and, in a huff, called Henry to help her pack her bags.
Although the two claimed to be tidying up Olivia's belongings, they did not spare any valuable items that belonged to Ethan.
For instance, a watch worth three thousand in Atharian currency had casually ended up on Henry's wrist.
Additionally, Ethan needed to wear a high-end Armani suit for important business discussions with valued partners at the company. That, too, was packed into the suitcase.
All of this was observed by Ethan. It was only at this moment that Ethan felt he had fully seen the ugly, true colors of this family. Had it not been for the fact that I rented the house, they might not have even bothered to tidy up today. They would have probably just kicked me out!
However, if it hadn't been for Olivia's relentless demands over the past few years, Ethan would have bought his own house a long time ago.
By the time the two of them had finally packed up their things, the house was already in a complete mess. Henry suddenly caught sight of a black credit card on the table. He grabbed it and turned to Olivia, asking, “What card is this? Is there any money in it?”
Ethan's heart skipped a beat instantly, his gaze becoming incredibly sharp. Everything in that house could be given to Olivia, but this card was the sole exception.
Olivia also glanced at the card, sneered, and disdainfully said, “I've transferred all his money away. He's penniless now! Let's go, Henry. Stay away from this pauper, and celebrate tonight with your fiancée!”
With that, she took the lead, carrying her suitcase, and walked out.
Henry casually tossed down a credit card worth a billion and followed suit.
“Haha! I'm going to pick up Evelyn in this new car. I'm sure to win her over tonight! Speaking of which, I have to thank Ethan. Without his contribution of a hundred thousand in Atharian currency, I wouldn't have been able to afford such a cool car! By the way Ethan, would you like to take a look at my new car? It's a Porsche 911!”
Ethan didn't respond to Henry's provocation. He simply crouched down in silence, picked up the credit card from the ground, and tucked it securely against his body. Then, he watched with a cold gaze as the two drove away.
After Olivia and Henry had left, Ethan lingered in the house for another half an hour before he, too, departed.
He decided to move to a different place. After all, the house was left in a complete mess by them. Ethan simply couldn't be bothered to clean up. Now I have, why should I continue to put myself through hardship?
At the same time, it was the perfect opportunity to test whether this credit card, stained with the blood of sin, was as useful as Frank had claimed.
Splendor Real Estate, being the largest real estate company in the entire Atharia, even their branch office in a small city was decorated with the utmost luxury.
Speaking of which, the company where Ethan worked could be considered a competitor to Splendor Real Estate. However, the difference was that Splendor Real Estate did not focus on the small city where Ethan was based. This allowed smaller companies like the one Ethan worked for, Sunbeam Construction Group, to have a sliver of survival space.
Perhaps it was due to the recent industry downturn, or maybe it was nearing closing time, but there were hardly any customers in the hall. A few idle salespeople huddled together, chatting aimlessly.
Ethan took a step and walked in.
A female sales representative nearby immediately approached. “Welcome, Sir. Are you looking for a rental property?”
Ethan took a moment to size up the attractive saleswoman across from him. She was dressed in professional attire, her lower half adorned with a short skirt paired with black stockings, her figure incredibly alluring. However, despite her mature outfit, she appeared to be quite young.
Ethan's gaze fell upon the name tag on the other person's chest. It read: Evelyn Taylor.
As Ethan sized up Evelyn Taylor, she also observed him. However, after giving Ethan a single glance, Evelyn seemed to lose interest.
Clearly, Ethan did not seem to be a wealthy man, not worth her spending too much thought on.
“Sir, if you're considering renting a place, I have a few excellent properties to recommend. I believe they will certainly meet your budget...” Evelyn said, a professional smile gracing her face.
