Chapter 8 Evelyn And Her Thoughts
After Ethan and Bob had finished signing the house purchase contract, Evelyn saw Bob, who was following behind Ethan slavishly, matching his pace and maintaining a hunched posture.
This made the already anxious Evelyn feel even more overwhelmed as if everything before her eyes turned black. She was nearly scared out of her wits. Who is that man? Have I offended him and am I going to be fired?
Bob was the general manager of Splendor Real Estate's branch office, a successful figure of the upper class in his own right.
Hence, no one had ever seen him treat others with such respect.
No! There must be a way to remedy this! Seeing her job on the line, Evelyn was filled with regret. The houses of Splendor Real Estate were never hard to sell, and the salaries and commissions for the sales staff were quite substantial. If she gave up this job, it would be much harder to find another with similar benefits.
When Ethan and Bob emerged, they casually glanced at Evelyn, who was trembling with her head bowed. They had no idea that in just a few short seconds, Evelyn's emotions had experienced a roller coaster of ups and downs.
Bob, maintaining a slight bow, said to Ethan, “Honorable Sir, Lake Mansion is quite far from here. Allow me to drive you there.”
Just as Ethan was about to agree, Evelyn, who had been closely watching the two, hastily unbuttoned the top two buttons of her blouse and called out, “Wait, Bob!”
The two men were taken aback as they saw Evelyn stride toward them. With each step she took, her ample bosom jiggled, immediately drawing the attention of the two gentlemen.
First, Evelyn gave Ethan an apologetic smile, then she turned to Bob and said, “Bob, I'd like to apologize to this gentleman for my earlier behavior. How about I take him to see the house?”
As she spoke, she leaned toward Ethan, subtly revealing her cleavage. “Honorable Sir, please grant me an opportunity to apologize to you!”
“Um...” Initially, Bob was somewhat dissatisfied with Evelyn, planning to dismiss her as soon as he returned.
However, upon reconsideration, the misunderstanding originated from Evelyn's claim that Ethan sexually harassed her. Whether that's true or not, what if this man has feelings for Evelyn? After all, Evelyn is so beautiful and has a great figure!
With that in mind, Bob's dissatisfaction instantly evaporated. He turned to Ethan and inquired respectfully, “Sir, what do you think?”
Ethan nodded. “Sure, let her drive for me!”
In reality, it didn't matter who drove the car. However, compared to having Bob, the chubby guy, it was clearly more enjoyable to have a beautiful woman as a companion.
Evelyn, her heart filled with unease, was overjoyed when she heard Ethan agree. The way she looked at Ethan was imbued with a different kind of meaning.
Bob also pulled out a set of car keys from his pocket. Turning to Evelyn, he said, “The company car is too basic. Take mine instead! Remember, head to Lake Mansion, which has now been bought by this gentleman here. You know where it is!”
Evelyn's mouth fell open in surprise when she heard that Ethan had managed to secure Lake Mansion worth a hundred million. The way she looked at Ethan was as if she was gazing at a delectable cake as if she couldn't resist the urge to devour him in one bite.
Evelyn took the keys from Bob's hand, flashing a charming wink at Ethan. “Sir, please follow me.”
With that, she swiveled her ample hips and took the lead, guiding the way up front.
Bob's car, a high-end Ferrari, was parked in the underground parking.
In the past, Ethan had also wanted to buy a car of this brand. However, due to a lack of funds, he kept this plan hidden in his heart.
At that moment, things had changed. Ethan planned to find some time to get a similar car as well.
Evelyn courteously opened the passenger door for Ethan, inviting him to get in. She then took the initiative to settle herself in the driver's seat.
However, after Evelyn closed the car door, she didn't rush to start the car. Instead, she leaned over to Ethan's ear, lowering her voice to ask, “Sir, shall we depart now, or is there something else we need to do first?”
Within the confines of the narrow space, an ambiguous atmosphere silently arose. Ethan stole a glance at Evelyn, who was deliberately lifting her short skirt, then closed his eyes and said, “Let's get going.”
Although Ethan didn't mind having a deep interaction with this woman, it was somewhat inappropriate, given that they were in someone else's car.
Evelyn was clearly discontented with Ethan's rejection, but she didn't dare to persist, fearing that it might upset Ethan.
So, she had no choice but to fasten her seatbelt and start the car, ready to set off.
At that moment, a pleasant ringtone echoed within the car. Evelyn quickly glanced apologetically at Ethan. “I'm sorry. May I take this call first?”
Seeing Ethan nod, Evelyn took out the incessantly ringing phone from her bag. She glanced at the caller ID, her expression becoming somewhat rigid. However, she still answered the call.
“Henry? What are you looking for me for?” Evelyn's tone was stiff.
On the other end of the phone, a voice Ethan found familiar rang out. “Evelyn, have you finished work? I'm here to pick you up. I'm right outside your office now.”
