Chapter 7 Moriarty Black Card
“Buy a house? I've never seen anyone buy a house with a credit card.” Evelyn scoffed dismissively. But as she looked up, she noticed beads of sweat covering Bob's forehead, and she was immediately taken aback.
In an instant, Bob raised his hand to wipe the beads of sweat from his forehead. His gloomy face suddenly transformed into a sycophantic smile.
His previously upright posture was then slightly hunched. He smiled at Ethan and said, “Sir, I apologize. You are an esteemed guest from the Moriarty family. I'm sorry for the inconvenience. Please come to my office. I will personally assist you with your affairs.”
Boom!
A startled Evelyn trembled, exclaiming, “Bob, what's wrong with you?”
“Shut up!”
Drenched in sweat, Bob didn't respond to Evelyn's question. He shot her a fierce glare before turning to Ethan with a smile, saying, “Sir, this way, please.”
Has someone finally recognized its worth? Ethan raised an eyebrow, casting a disdainful glance at the bewildered Evelyn. He then stood up and followed Bob toward the office.
What was initially just a minor misunderstanding was blown out of proportion by this delusional woman.
Since the misunderstanding had been cleared up, and Bob, being the manager, had apologized to him, there was no need for Ethan to continue entangling himself with Evelyn.
Hence, Ethan thought he would just continue with the process of purchasing a house.
Once the two individuals had entered the office, the once quiet sales hall suddenly erupted into chaos.
One by one, the faces of the onlookers revealed expressions of surprise and horror.
No one had expected that things would suddenly turn out this way.
Evelyn stood rooted to the spot, dumbfounded. Her beautiful eyes were brimming with tears, and her delicate body was subtly trembling.
That was because she had realized a very serious problem. I'm in trouble!
“Sir, I apologize for the incident earlier. It was my fault for not properly training my staff, leading to your inconvenience. I hope you can forgive us.”
As soon as he entered the office, Bob hastily apologized. He had wiped the beads of sweat from his forehead several times, but they continued to seep out relentlessly. His back was even soaked through.
The Moriarty family's credit card might be unrecognizable to the average person, but at his level, it was impossible not to recognize it.
Originally, Bob was employed at the headquarters of Splendor Real Estate, where he had numerous dealings with his boss and the Moriarty family, reputed to be the largest mafia family in Atharia. His impressions of this notorious family were profoundly deep.
Every holder of the Moriarty Black Card was invariably an immediate family member of the Moriarty family. It wasn't just a matter of a branch manager like him. Even the major shareholders at the headquarters had to greet the cardholder with a smile, not daring to show the slightest hint of negligence.
He could only hope that Ethan wouldn't hold too much of a grudge. Otherwise, his tenure as a manager would be over.
Ethan looked up, calmly meeting the manager's gaze. “Are you feeling nervous?”
Bob's eye twitched twice. He gave an awkward laugh and said, “No. No, Sir. What would you like to drink? Tea or coffee?”
“No need. Show me the house, preferably a mansion,” Ethan said indifferently.
Bob hastily said, “Absolutely, only a mansion would be fitting for your status.”
As he spoke, he pulled out a thin booklet and handed it to Ethan. “To be honest, these few are the best mansions we have here. Take a look and see if there's one you fancy.”
True to the manager's personal recommendation, the several mansions listed were quite impressive, and Ethan immediately took a liking to one of them.
Lake Mansion, established on an artificial island in the middle of the lake, came complete with its own helipad and swimming pool. It was essentially an independent kingdom nestled within the bustling city.
One could argue that this was the finest mansion in the entire city, but Ethan also had his personal reasons for choosing that mansion.
Because the mansion was built by the company he worked for, and the project manager was none other than Ethan himself.
One could say that Ethan knew every tile of this mansion like the back of his hand.
Back when Ethan was building the mansion, he couldn't help but lament that he might never get the chance to live in a house he had built himself in his lifetime.
To his surprise, it wasn't long before he had the opportunity to move in.
“This is the one!” Ethan pointed at the photo of Lake Mansion in the booklet.
Bob leaned in for a closer look, and immediately praised, “Sir, you truly are a distinguished member of the Moriarty family. You indeed have a discerning eye, picking out the best at just one glance!”
Then, with a hint of hesitation on his face, he said, “Lake Mansion is bundled with the artificial island for sale. The original price is one hundred million in Atharian currency. As an apology, I can offer a twenty percent discount. What do you think—”
Without uttering another word, Ethan tossed his credit card over. “Just swipe the card!”
“All right!” Bob hastily accepted the credit card with respect, his heart already filled with disdain for the overwhelming waves. A hundred million is being spent without a blink of an eye. It seems that the gentleman before me is not only a direct elite of Moriarty but also holds a high position!
After that, Bob saw the long string of zeros on the card machine and almost fainted from shock. One billion! Oh my! I must be hallucinating! This Moriarty Black Card has a billion on it! Isn't this the kind of card that only the Don himself and his heir are qualified to hold?
Bob's hands, holding the card, were trembling when he saw the relaxed expression on Ethan's face. Have I just narrowly avoided angering the future Don?
Bob's back was instantly drenched in sweat when he thought about that, and he could barely stand upright.
